Manchester City player will undergo medical with club on Monday – Official announcement to follow

Manchester City‘s Tomas Galvez is on the verge of leaving the Premier League side this summer.

The English club signed the left-back for their academy in 2021, but Pep Guardiola didn’t offer him minutes with the first team.

Manchester City have sent the defender on loan to LASK and SC Cambuur for the past two seasons. He spent 18 months with the Dutch club, managing six assists from 54 matches.

Manchester City exit operation advanced

His performances for SC Cambuur convinced Go Ahead Eagles to sign the 21-year-old this summer.

De Stentor, a newspaper local to the Eredivisie side, covers the latest on Tomas Galvez.

Earlier this month, the Dutch club sold Aske Adelgaard to FC Twente, leaving them with Dean James as their only recognised left-back.

Therefore, they have decided to take action to sign Adelgaard’s successor. The focus is on the England-born Finland international.

The Manchester City man will most likely become Go Ahead Eagles’ new left-back if he completes the transfer formalities. The operation is so advanced that he will undergo a medical examination today. This is now pending for them to make the transfer official.

It would indicate Go Ahead Eagles have already reached an agreement with the Citizens. However, the newspaper doesn’t mention this, about the fee or the type of operation [loan or a permanent transfer].

There should be more clarity on this soon if the fullback clears his medical and signs the contract. Galvez’s contract expires in 2028 and his value, as per Transfermarkt, is €750k.

Exit won’t impact Manchester City

The Etihad club have appointed Enzo Maresca as Pep Guardiola’s successor. The latter had Nico O’Reilly and Rayan Aït-Nouri as the recognised left-backs last season.

Maresca will have those two and can also use centre-back Joško Gvardiol on the left side of the defence.

There were rumours around his future, but Sport Witness relayed news last month that there’s ‘no doubt’ over Gvardiol signing an improved contract with Manchester City.
