Arne Slot’s name hasn’t really left the headlines since his abrupt Liverpool exit earlier this summer.

In Italy, reports suggested Slot had emerged as a surprise contender for the AC Milan job. Meanwhile, it was reported in England that Fulham had approached the Dutchman only for Slot to reject the London side’s advances.

Last week, he also spoke about Diogo Jota on the anniversary of his passing and how the Portugal team was honoring him to Dutch press:

“It is very emotional to see how Portugal honors Diogo,” said Slot.

“Wearing those bracelets is really a wonderful gesture. It reflects how much respect and affection everyone had for him. He was not only a great player; He was someone who brought people together. He cared about the group, always put the team first and made everyone around him feel important.”

“Seeing how his teammates carry his memory with them on the field is a fitting tribute. I hope it reminds people of the kind of person he was, as much as the player he became.”

But now it looks like he could be back in management sooner than expected.

Arne Slot has held initial talks for the Netherlands manager job according to reliable reports.

Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg has taken to X to report:

“Understand Arne Slot is one of the candidates to become the new Netherlands head coach following Ronald Koeman’s resignation. Other candidates are also being considered, but Slot is on the shortlist. Initial talks have already taken place.”

Slot has been heavily touted amongst Dutch journalists and pundits in recent days, so it will be a situation to watch closely.
