Bayer Leverkusen striker Christian Kofane is holding out for a move to Arsenal, according to reports in the German media.
Bild claim that Newcastle United are the latest Premier League club to register their interest in the Cameroon international.

However, it is doubtful that Kofane would entertain a transfer to St James’ Park as the Magpies do not have Champions League.
It is believed that a “concrete Arsenal offer” would more likely turn the head of the 19-year-old.
Is Kofane a genuine target for the Gunners?
Speaking at the start of April, the teenager’s agent, Eric Depolo, confirmed that the forward is in the viewfinder of the Premier League champions:
Yes, Arsenal’s interest is genuine. The manager is very taken with him… I think it’s still too early to say anything, but given that the player speaks Spanish, just like Mikel Arteta, and that William Saliba is originally from Cameroon, I’d say Arsenal have the best chance.”
“Yes, there is contact between me and Arsenal. But their focus is currently on winning the league – everything will fall into place from there. He is a player worth €100m (£86m). With Kofane, Arsenal will have a top striker for the next 10 years.”
Even though Depolo has talked up a potential switch to the Emirates this summer, it is quite apparent that no concerted effort has been made to sign Kofane up until now.
Arsenal are prioritising other forwards
While a move for a no.9 cannot be completely ruled out, it is thought that Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez would be the top target if they were to strengthen that position.
Reinforcing the left wing seems to be the top priority for Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta, with Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers and Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola said to be leading the club’s shortlist.
