Liverpool have made a serious move for "special" £50m attacker with 2 World Cup goals - report

Liverpool continue to eye up wingers this summer, and now West Ham and Netherlands winger Crysencio Summerville is believed to be a player of serious interest.

The Reds know how important a couple of wide players are heading into next season, with Victor Munoz already coming in from La Liga side Osasuna.

Yan Diomande looks likely to join Paris Saint-Germain instead of Liverpool, acting as a blow, but Bradley Barcola could be a strong alternative, following a new update from journalist Pete O’Rourke:

“Liverpool are big admirers of Bradley Barcola. They have had him on their radar for a while, so they will see if they can do a deal. It’s not going to be easy, PSG are not rushing him out the door, they’re claiming he’s not for sale, they want to keep him and they’re under no real pressure to sell.

“A lot of it will come down to probably the player and his will, if he wants to move in search of regular first team football, if he’s not going to get that at the Parc de Princes. If he pushes for a move, it could mean Liverpool have a chance and PSG might be willing to let him go, but a lot will depend on how he feels.”

Now, Caught Offside report that Liverpool have “made a serious move” for West Ham ace Summerville, with the Hammers looking for around £50m this summer, even though £30m-40m is a possibility.

Is Crysencio Summerville good enough to thrive for Liverpool?

Summerville is an excellent winger on his day, as he has shown at the 2026 World Cup, scoring and assisting twice apiece for the Netherlands before their exit at the hands of Morocco.

The 24-year-old will likely leave West Ham after their relegation from the Premier League last season, and it is easy to see him being an asset for Liverpool, having been lauded by former coach Alfons Groenendijk:

“He already had something special at ADO. That kid has a cheeky streak in his game. He has guts and believes in his own abilities. It’s fun to watch him.”

The above report states that Summerville is “quick, direct and comfortable attacking defenders from the left side”, giving new Liverpool head coach Andoni Iraola “another explosive option in the final third”, highlighting his qualities.

Whether he is at the elite level required for the Reds is up for debate, though, and a predominantly right-sided winger has to be the priority focus after the exit of Mohamed Salah.
