Arne Slot could be set for a return to management just weeks after leaving Liverpool, with reports claiming that talks have been held over the vacant Netherlands national team job.
It comes after the Dutch side were knocked out in the Round of 32 by Morocco, ending their World Cup campaign earlier than anyone would have wanted.
Despite having plenty of top talent, including many who feature every week in the Premier League, the Oranje were unable to show their best, and Ronald Koeman lost his job as the national team's head coach.
The hunt is on for a new manager before the next international break, which comes in September, and it seems as though former Liverpool boss Slot is among those on the shortlist to take over.
The 47-year-old is out of work after leaving the Reds in late May, with the Anfield hierarchy deciding upon a change in direction after a disappointing campaign in the Premier League.
Slot has been linked with plenty of positions since, including the likes of AC Milan and Fulham, but his next challenge could be in international management with the Netherlands.
Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg claims that the Dutch coach is one of the candidates to take up the position, while "initial talks" have taken place to see whether it would be an interesting proposition for all parties.

It would be quite the change in direction for Slot, who has so far stuck to club soccer in his career so far, taking charge of Cambuur, AZ Alkmaar, and Feyenoord before his latest spell with Liverpool.
There would be plenty of familiar faces in the Netherlands setup for the ex-Reds manager, too, with the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Ryan Gravenberch, Cody Gakpo, and Jeremie Frimpong all part of the team.

The first task for the manager, if he gets the job, would be to dissect what exactly went so wrong for the team at the most recent World Cup, before figuring out how to get the most out of his players for the years to come.

The 2028 European Championships will be in sight for UEFA nations after the World Cup, with qualification for the tournament coming up in the near future.
There is also the UEFA Nations League to grapple with, where another familiar face or two awaits. The Netherlands take on Germany first up in their group, a side who could be managed by Jurgen Klopp, as talks continue over him taking up the vacant role for his own side.
It sets up an intriguing new route for another former Liverpool boss, but it remains to be seen whether Slot will take up the opportunity if it arrives.
