Arsenal Women endured a disappointing 2025/26 season, failing to win a major trophy.
Arsenal finished second in the Women’s Super League, lost to Lyon in the UEFA Women’s Champions League semi-finals and were knocked out of the FA Cup and League Cup in the quarter-finals and semi-finals respectively.
The Gunners are now strengthening their squad ahead of the new campaign.
After completing the transfer of England international Georgia Stanway, the north London side have now announced the signing of striker Selina Cerci on a permanent deal.
Cerci joins the Gunners after leaving TSG 1899 Hoffenheim as a free agent.
The 26-year-old came through Bayern Munich’s academy, but was unable to get regular playing time with the Bavarians, prompting her to join Werder Bremen.
Cerci enjoyed a prolific spell at Bremen, chipping in with 19 goals in 29 appearances for the club. She then joined Turbine Potsdam before moving to FC Köln.
The Germany international signed for Hoffenheim in 2024, where she enjoyed an outstanding two-year spell.
Cerci scored 16 league goals in her first season with Die Kraichgauer, winning the Bundesliga Women’s Golden Boot. She reached new heights last term, registering the most league goal involvements with 16 goals and nine assists.
The Kiel-born striker has five goals in 20 matches for the Germany national team.
Coach Renée Slegers has revealed the reasons behind Arsenal’s move for Cerci.
“She has impressive goal-scoring numbers and brings good presence, physicality and forward intent. Combined with her strong work ethic, we feel these qualities make her a great addition to our squad.”
The former Koln forward will wear the No.29 jersey, which was assigned to youngster Michelle Agyemang last term.
