Chelsea have confirmed that Tyrique George has completed a move to Everton. The Blues have bid farewell to another player in a deal worth £24million as Xabi Alonso's side begins to take shape.
The cross-Premier League move will see the Londoners bank £18million up front with a further £6m in add-ons. Chelsea have included a 15 per cent sell-on clause in the deal with the Merseysiders. The 20-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan in the North West and has now made his move permanent to become the third arrival of the summer at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
George is the second departure from West London after Marc Cucurella's sudden exit to join La Liga and European powerhouses Real Madrid for a fee worth £52million. The former Los Blancos midfielder Alonso has welcomed Marco Palestra into the ranks but more movement is to be expected as Chelsea strive to add reinforcements in order to compete on all fronts.
The Cobham academy graduate bids farewell to the club where he has been for 12 years after signing terms at under-eight level. He won two trophies during his time with the first-team making 37 appearances.
At the end of their statement, the Blues said: "We thank Ty for his efforts throughout his time at Chelsea and wish him every success as he begins a new chapter in his career."
The attacker joins the Toffees on a four-year deal after David Moyes' side made the loan move permanent following his initial temporary spell at the club.
He told the he committed his future at the Stadium of Light. : “I’m so happy to sign for Everton. I loved my time here on loan last season, so as soon as I knew it was a possibility to return, that's always what I wanted.
"This is a massive club. I've seen for myself how passionate the fans are about Everton, how much it means to them – and I want to put on good performances, score goals, and create goals to make them happy.
"The fans and the boys in the changing room made me feel welcome as soon as I arrived in February. It's a strong group that's only going to get better. I'm excited for what is ahead for us as a group and club.”
Chelsea players are set to begin their phased return back to the first-team following the completion of the 2025/26 season. For some of their players on international duty at the World Cup, there will be sporadic returns following their respective breaks.
Enzo Fernandez, who is on duty with Argentina, faces an uncertain future at the club. Chelsea remain relaxed about the situation and the club stance remains steadfast that if their £120million asking price is met, they will be happy to let the former Benfica midfielder leave.
Until then, he will be apart of Alonso's squad. For the Spaniard, he will return to the drawing board for midfield additions after Granit Xhaka rejected a return to London.
The Swiss international had been tempted by a reunion with Alonso, the manager whom he won a league and cup double with at Bayer Leverkusen, but after last-minute talks were thrashed out with the Black Cats, he committed his future at the Stadium of Light.
