Tottenham Hotspur have been one of the busiest sides this summer, significantly strengthening their squad with a club-record signing of midfielder Sandro Tonali from Newcastle, marking a major escalation in their spending.
The deal between the two Premier League rivals was finalised last Wednesday and officially announced on Monday morning.
It follows the £85m signing of Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke’s £52m arrival from Brighton earlier in the window, taking Spurs’ total outlay to £237m. Free agents Martin Dubravka, former Liverpool defender Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi have also joined.
Tonali is not expected to be the final addition, with attacking reinforcements now a priority. Tottenham are among the clubs showing interest in Bournemouth forward Eli Junior Kroupi, who is also attracting attention from Liverpool.
The 20-year-old joined Bournemouth in February 2025 on a five-and-a-half-year deal and enjoyed a strong debut season, scoring 13 goals in 33 Premier League appearances and earning a PFA Young Player of the Year nomination.
According to talkSPORT, Spurs are preparing an £85m move for the France U21 international, although the Cherries are determined to keep hold of him this summer. Arsenal are also monitoring the situation.
Speaking on The Window, talkSPORT’s chief football correspondent Alex Crook said: “He has lots of potential suitors, Arsenal amongst them.
“Tottenham are preparing a potential £85million bid for Junior Kroupi to try and test Bournemouth’s resolve that he is not for sale this summer.
“That’s the message coming out of the Vitality, that both him and Alex Scott will stay. We know Bournemouth are in contract negotiations with Scott having received an enquiry from Arsenal, but Tottenham and Kroupi seems to be bubbling under.
“And this will be Tottenham continuing a massive summer of spending having already paid £85million for (Mateus) Fernandes, £100million for (Sandro) Tonali, £50million for Jan Paul van Hecke at Brighton.
“And they’ve signed Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi on free transfers as well. So it’s basically going to be a whole new team for Roberto De Zerbi next season and no surprise they’re interested in Kroupi.
“They want another forward player. That would probably see Richarlison depart. As I say, the message coming out of the south coast is that Kroupi is not for sale this summer.”
A move for Kroupi would continue Tottenham’s busy summer transfer window, with the north London club showing no signs of slowing down after a series of high-profile arrivals.
