Victor Munoz, who completed a £34.5million move from Osasuna last month, has endured a frustrating 2026 FIFA World Cup so far, with injury preventing him from making an appearance.

The 22-year-old arrived with a calf problem, and a subsequent setback has kept him sidelined, leaving him as an unused substitute throughout the competition.

However, ahead of Spain’s last-16 clash against Portugal on Monday evening, Munoz told reporters he is still building up his fitness in training but is “ready” to feature for Luis de la Fuente’s side.

If selected, it would be his first competitive appearance since Osasuna’s defeat to Espanyol on May 17. Munoz said, as quoted by okdiario: “I’m feeling better.

“I’m in good form with the team. I’m getting back into the swing of things, although it’s difficult because I’ve been out for quite a while, but I’m ready if the team needs me.”

Also asked if he’s fit enough to play the entire game, Munoz said, via Diario De Navarra: “Little by little. I’ve been going through this recovery process for a long time.

“I’m still just starting to train, to get back into that rhythm, which is difficult when you’re with the best because they’re at such a high level.

“Now I’m training and feeling better, which is the important thing to get back on the field as soon as possible. It’s tough because it’s a dream to be here, and you want to be on the pitch as soon as possible to play with your teammates. That’s football for you; you have to live with it, and the good thing is that I’m feeling better and better.”

Victor Munoz spent last season at Osasuna, playing a key role as they narrowly avoided relegation on goal difference, contributing seven goals and five assists across all competitions.

Despite having only two international caps, he was called up to Luis de la Fuente’s Spain squad for the World Cup, though he is yet to feature in the tournament.
