The summer transfer window is barely a month old, but there has already been significant movement across the Premier League, with Liverpool among the clubs shaping early business.
Victor Munoz is one of the first arrivals at Anfield, joining from Osasuna in a £34.5m deal, while Jeremy Jacquet’s move has now been officially completed after his £60m switch from Rennes.
The France U21 international described joining Liverpool as a dream come true upon his unveiling. With two months still remaining in the window, more additions are expected under new boss Andoni Iraola, with Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola among the players linked.
A move for Yan Diomande has also stalled, with reports suggesting the youngster favours a switch to the French capital.
There remains ongoing speculation around the futures of Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott and Federico Chiesa as Liverpool continue to assess their squad.
Meanwhile, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool have sealed a deal to sign Scotland U16 captain Dara Jikiemi from Celtic as part of their push to secure top young talent for the future.
Romano posted on X: “Liverpool have sealed deal to sign Scotland U16 captain Dara Jikiemi from Celtic, here we go! Jikiemi has signed paperwork on Sunday to join #LFC on a 5 year contract.”
Jikiemi becomes the third young centre-back to join Liverpool after Jeremy Jacquet and Ifeanyi Ndukwe also agreed moves to Anfield earlier last season.
He is also the fifth young central defender to arrive at the club since last summer, following Mor Talla Ndiaye’s January move and Giovanni Leoni’s arrival last summer.
Highly rated within youth football circles, Jikiemi captains both Scotland’s U15 and U16 sides. He is regarded as a modern centre-back, comfortable playing out from the back and regularly looking for line-breaking passes. He is also two-footed and composed under pressure, attributes that are seen as essential in Liverpool’s system.
