Liverpool’s summer transfer business is already underway, with two signings completed and more expected before the window closes.
The Reds are also preparing to return for pre-season later this month, with Andoni Iraola set to meet his squad for the first time since taking over.
However, it remains unclear which players will report back immediately, with international commitments and post-tournament rest likely to delay some arrivals.
Virgil van Dijk, Ryan Gravenberch, Cody Gakpo, Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak could return earlier after their nations exited the World Cup, while Alexis Mac Allister and new signing Victor Munoz are still involved in the tournament.
New arrivals Jeremy Jacquet and Munoz have already linked up with the club this summer, but further additions are still expected.
A winger remains a key target, with Bradley Barcola still admired, while RB Leipzig’s Antonio Nusa is also reportedly under consideration.
Meanwhile, according to Liverpool academy expert Lewis Bower, Ollie O’Connor has signed a new contract at Anfield after his previous deal neared expiry. The midfielder, who recently signed with Roc Nation, is highly regarded within the academy setup.
The 17-year-old returned to Liverpool’s academy setup for pre-season on Monday, with the U21s and U18s both beginning their summer preparations.
The first few days will focus on fitness testing to establish baseline levels before players push on with the aim of stepping up into senior training.
Rob Page and Simon Wiles are in charge of the U21 and U18 groups respectively, with both sides also set to play pre-season friendlies ahead of the new campaign next month.
O’Connor, a creative midfielder for the U18s, has been with Liverpool since the age of six, progressing through the club’s pre-academy system.
Known for his attacking instincts and eye for goal, he made his U18 debut while still an U16 player in 2023–24, scoring a standout goal away at Newcastle United.
He continued his development last season, netting five times in 2024–25, with one of his strikes nominated for Liverpool’s Goal of the Season
