Mateus Mane is back on the priority list of Liverpool as per recent news. The Reds aim to move for the Wolverhampton Wanderers player this upcoming season.

The Reds resume interest in Mane

As reported by TEAMtalk, Liverpool have reignited their interest in the 18-year-old Mane. The Reds aimed to get Yan Diomande on board for the upcoming season. However, the winger from Ivory Coast has preferred a move to Paris Saint-Germain over joining Anfield.

That’s the main reason Liverpool are now aiming for Mane. Interestingly, Manchester United are equally interested in him for the 2026-27 season. The Portuguese forward joined the senior team of the Wolverhampton Wanderers last year. He previously played for the youth team between 2024 and 2025. Before that, he played for Rochdale’s youth team between 2023 and 2024.

Mane’s stats for the 2025-26 season, as per FOTMOB:

Competitions Matches Goals Assists

Premier League 27 3 1

Premier League 2 6 2 2

EFL Trophy 3 2 1

National League Cup 2 1 0

FA Cup 3 0 0

How can Mateus Mane’s potential entry benefit Liverpool

Mane’s potential entry will be a bonus for Liverpool’s attacking lineup. The young forward proved his mettle at the Premier League last year. However, his performance wasn’t good enough to save his team. The Wolves were relegated to the EFL Championship after they finished 20th in the 2025-26 League table. If he agrees to join Liverpool, Mane might be able to fill in the void left by the exit of Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah.

Meanwhile Liverpool have had a roller-coaster ride in the 2025-26 season. They finished 2nd in the FA Community Shield final. They also made it to the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League, and finished fifth in the Premier League. However, they faced an early exit from the EFL Cup. That’s why Arne Slot was replaced by Andoni Iraola as the head coach for the upcoming season.

Future gameplan for Mateus Mane

Mateus Mane is currently preparing for the upcoming **football**season. He has a clean record in terms of both fitness and discipline. With clubs like Man Utd and Liverpool showing their interest in him, he has a bright future ahead.

Mane was called up by the U18 squads of both England and Portugal. This isn’t surprising, since he was born in Portugal, and moved to England when he was eight years old. Unfortunately, he didn’t receive a call-up for the Portuguese squad for the ongoing**FIFA World Cup**. However, he isn’t disappointed by that. The Portuguese forward hopes to prove his worth in club football next year.

Liverpool are undergoing a tactical evolution for the upcoming season. Andoni Iraola knows it’s make or break for him the next year. He cannot afford to repeat the mistakes made by his predecessor. He is also looking out for players for almost every position. These include players like Bradley Barcola, Victor Munoz, Sergio Arribas. However, filling in the shoes of Mohamed Salah won’t be easy for the Liverpool management. Maybe Mane’s potential entry could help them to some extent.

Mane has a golden opportunity to make it count next year. Despite the circumstances, he showed his potential at the Premier League last year. If he joins Anfield, he will get a better platform to showcase his immense talent. He could even join the senior Portugal squad if he proves himself in European club football. The ball is now in his court.
