Arsenal's transfer window has remained fairly subdued thus far as Mikel Arteta prepares his Premier League champions for their title defence. Piero Hincapie stands as the Gunners' sole senior acquisition after the 24-year-old defender completed his permanent switch from Bayer Leverkusen in a £34.5million transaction last month.

Regarding outgoings, Jakub Kiwior has already departed north London for Porto, while forward Leandro Trossard is broadly anticipated to follow suit after a £17m agreement was reached with Besiktas. Business is expected to accelerate in the forthcoming weeks as pre-season commences and the World Cup approaches its conclusion, enabling Arsenal to concentrate entirely on bolstering the squad.

Sporting director Andrea Berta has been allocated a transfer budget of £250m as Arsenal seek to assemble a squad capable of defending the Premier League title and ultimately conquering Europe. A new midfielder and left winger remain atop Arteta's priority list, while defensive additions are also understood to be a key consideration.

Shock bid 'prepared' for ex-Man Utd star

England international Ben White could emerge as one of the most high-profile departures from Arsenal this summer following his fall down the pecking order at right-back. White has seen his playing time diminish since the breakthrough of Jurrien Timber, while a succession of injury problems over the previous two campaigns have further restricted his involvement.

According to TEAMtalk, the Gunners have already compiled a shortlist of 11 potential replacements should the former Leeds United defender opt to move on. Perhaps the most striking name on that list is ex-Manchester United full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

The 28-year-old, who caught the eye during DR Congo's progression to the Round of 32 at the World Cup, is believed to be receptive to a transfer following his relegation to the Championship with West Ham United last term. Widely considered one of the most formidable one-on-one defenders in England, Wan-Bissaka has already garnered attention from Everton and Turkish outfit Fenerbahce.

The other right-backs reportedly being assessed include Aston Villa's Ezri Konsa, Newcastle's Tino Livramento, Barcelona's Jules Kounde, Real Madrid's Raul Asencio, Celta Vigo's Oscar Mingueza, RB Leipzig's Lutsharel Geertruida, Monaco's Vanderson, Roma's Wesley, Sporting CP's Ivan Fresneda and Feyenoord prospect Givairo Read.

Midfielder pursuit handed boost

Arsenal have received an encouraging boost in their pursuit of Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes. Despite the Magpies continuing to maintain that their skipper is not available, reports indicate that a bid in the region of £65million could be sufficient to entice the club into talks.

The Gunners have already had a £45million offer knocked back for the 28-year-old this window as Arteta looks to strengthen his midfield options. Negotiations are now expected to gather momentum following Brazil's elimination from the World Cup on Sunday evening.

Guimaraes rounded off the tournament with four assists but suffered a gut-wrenching exit after missing a penalty in Sunday's 2-1 defeat to Norway, who will now face England in the quarter-finals. With his World Cup adventure now at an end, Guimaraes is anticipated to shift his full focus towards resolving his club future, which could well speed up developments regarding a potential switch to Arsenal.
