International breaks in 2026/27 – Who Liverpool play before and after

The 2026/27 Premier League season is fast approaching, and it means there are more international breaks to endure, although there is one fewer this campaign!

For what has felt like an eternity, supporters have had to endure three separate international breaks in the first four months of the season, but that has now been condensed to two.

To compensate, however, the first break will be longer, but at least we’re not pulled out of a season as often!

LFC Fixtures: Pre and Post-Internationals

International Break Surrounding Fixtures

1. Sept 21 – Oct 6 Before: Bournemouth (A)After: Man City (H)

2. Nov 9 – Nov 17 Before: Crystal Palace (A)After: Man United (H)

3. March 23 – Mar 30 Before: Fulham (A)After: FA Cup QF / UCL QF / Newcastle (H)

Thus, there are three breaks in total this season, while the Asian Cup will take place during the domestic campaign – though Liverpool have no players eligible for that competition.

Liverpool have notable games either directly before or after the international breaks this season, emphasising the importance of Andoni Iraola‘s players returning fit.

The first international break will be the longest of the season, with four international matches now taking place in one sitting instead of two.

It will feel long and frustrating, with it coming just a month into the campaign.

European players will compete in the Nations League group stage, while others will be involved in friendlies and qualifiers.

A long trip to Bournemouth precedes the break, and there’s a big game at Anfield against Enzo Maresca’s Man City on the Reds’ return.

A month and eight games after the first break, it is time for the players to jet off again – only this time it is for the usual two-game schedule.

Liverpool travel away to face Crystal Palace right before the break, and will be back at Anfield immediately after, with Man United the visitors.

Third international break: March 23-30

The third and final break of the season, as always, comes in late March, meaning there are four months of uninterrupted club football that precede it.

Another two games for international players as their busy schedules continue, but at least it is the last of the campaign!

Liverpool are, again, on the road before the break, and on return they could have an FA Cup quarter-final and, hopefully, a Champions League quarter-final first leg to prepare for.

If not, Newcastle at Anfield will be the first league game back, but it will be more than a week after the international break concluded.

• Before: Fulham (A)

• After: FA Cup Quarter-Final / Champions League QF 1st Leg / Newcastle (H)
