Former Sunderland, Chelsea and Aston Villa attacker Bertrand Traoré is reportedly attracting interest from Turkey
Former Sunderland winger Bertrand Traoré has been linked with a summer move to Turkish side Trabzonspor following his release from the Stadium of Light.
According to Africafoot, Trabzonspor have opened negotiations with Traoré’s entourage as they explore a deal for the 30-year-old Burkina Faso international. The report claims talks are under way over a potential free transfer, with the forward now available after leaving Sunderland this summer.
Traoré joined the Black Cats in September last year, arriving for a fee worth around £2.5million and signing a one-year contract with the option of a further year. The former Chelsea, Lyon, Aston Villa, Villarreal and Ajax attacker brought significant top-level experience to Wearside, but his stay ultimately proved short-lived.
The attacker made 12 Premier League appearances for Sunderland during the 2025-26 campaign, scoring once, before being released at the end of the season. His departure came after a difficult spell in terms of regular involvement, with Traoré unable to establish himself as a consistent first-team starter despite his pedigree and international experience due to injury issues
Trabzonspor are now said to be looking closely at the situation as they assess attacking reinforcements ahead of the new season. Traoré’s availability on a free transfer, combined with his experience across England, France, Spain, the Netherlands and international football, is likely to make him an attractive option. The winger has also earned more than 90 caps for Burkina Faso, underlining the level of experience he would bring should Trabzonspor decide to push ahead with a deal.
