Chelsea twist could hand West Ham fans the clean break they need

Interest appears to be ramping up in West Ham’s Crysencio Summerville following the conclusion of the winger’s World Cup campaign.

Two goals and two assists might not have been enough to see the Netherlands through to the advanced stages of the competition but he returned with an enhanced reputation and proof of match fitness.

Liverpool and Manchester United have been reported as planning bids – and further concrete interest is reported by teamtalk.co.uk:

Summerville surely on borrowed time at West Ham now

There are doubts over whether new Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso will use former United winger Alejandro Garnacho, and Summerville has been identified as a potential replacement for the Argentina international.”

If they’re anything like me, West Ham fans will be growing weary of the noise around Summerville and simply hoping for a swift conclusion, accepting reluctantly that the ambitious young Dutch winger will be sold.

It feels like time to draw a line under his West Ham career and move on with the Championship squad building.

Hopefully with Recruitment Director Nils Koppen now in place the negotiations will be concluded swiftly. The fact that Chelsea have ‘entered the race’ merely means there’s a trio of clubs after Summerville’s signature which should, at least, get it done in the coming weeks.

More interesting will be the task of securing a Championship-ready replacement as we all try and move on from the disappointment of relegation and the resultant talent departures. Nuno has already built a back-room team ready for the promotion challenge so hopefully news of arrivals won’t be too long in coming.
