Arsenal targeting surprise deal for £15m West Ham star

Arsenal are weighing up a move for West Ham United right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka as they seek a replacement for Ben White, according to journalist Graeme Bailey.

White has had plenty of injury concerns over the past few years. He has now entered the last two years of his contract, and it has been reported that he is expected to move on.

Bailey has now claimed that Wan-Bissaka has emerged as an option for the Premier League holders following West Ham United’s relegation to the Championship.

Wan-Bissaka could emerge as a right-back solution

The DR Congo international has been one of the Premier League’s best right-backs when it comes to one-on-one defending. That attribute will have caught Arsenal’s eye.

Wan-Bissaka was brilliant for his country at the World Cup. He won 68 percent of his ground duels, while registering almost three tackles and six clearances per appearance.

He likewise impressed with his interceptions and ball recoveries. Wan-Bissaka’s potential weakness has been his forward play, but there has been a notable improvement.

At West Ham, he has made more overlapping runs with intent compared to his time at Manchester United. He has 10 goal contributions in 65 appearances for the east London outfit.

In comparison, he managed just 15 goal involvements from 190 games for United. If White were to leave Arsenal, Wan-Bissaka could be a successor, given his vast Premier League experience.

The 28-year-old was signed by the Hammers for £15 million in the summer of 2024. If the Gunners can get him for a similar fee, or around £20m, it would represent good transfer business.
