Former Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has helped guide Egypt to the World Cup 2026 round of 16. But they face their toughest test yet as they travel to Atlanta to play Argentina.

This year has been a rollercoaster ride for the man dubbed 'The Egyptian King' by Reds fans. His nine-year, trophy-laden tenure at Anfield came to an emotional end in May and his latest task has been leading his country into only their fourth ever World Cup.

The Pharaohs did not disappoint in the group stages, drawing with Belgium and Iran and downing New Zealand 3-1 to qualify second in Group G. A dramatic penalty shootout with Australia followed in the round of 32 and more history was made as Egypt won their first-ever World Cup knockout match.

What is Mohamed Salah's net worth?

Salah's breakthrough came in 2017, when JurgenKlopp's Reds snapped him up from Roma in a £34.3million deal. The rest is history where his goal-scoring is concerned, but his first-ever Anfield deal only saw him earn an estimated £90,000 per week.

One year and 44 goals later, he penned a new five-year contract, doubling his salary. In 2022, he signed a record-breaking three-year extension that reportedly saw him earn over £350,000 per week. His final contract, signed in 2025, was cut short this summer to enable his farewell.

Brand deals with Adidas, Pepsi and Vodafone Egypt have further boosted his fortune and Celebrity Net Worth estimates that to date, Salah's net worth stands at a whopping £105m.

Where does Mohamed Salah live?

During his time with Liverpool, it is thought that Salah resided, and still likely resides, in Cheshire's 'golden triangle,' an area in the county home to many high-profile sports stars and celebrities.

It is unclear where Salah and his family will move next, if they move at all, because his next club has yet to be decided. But his other half, Magi, might be happy to see the back of their northwest mansion, given that Salah himself likened it to a hospital.

That comparison was made by the superstar thanks to all the extreme recovery and training equipment the 34-year-old has had installed. The Cheshire residence has two gym rooms, dedicated to bodybuilding and strength training. There are also hyperbaric chambers and cryotherapy facilities.

Speaking to L'Equipe in 2022, Salah said: "I am constantly looking to improve my physical condition. It's true that I like to say that my house looks like a hospital, [but] my wife doesn't like that! [She] says that I spend more time with my machines than with her!"

Why did Mohamed Salah leave Liverpool?

Salah's spell at Anfield officially ended on July 1 and the Egyptian forward won't soon be forgotten. He redefined the Reds' modern era with his 257 goals and departs as the club's all-time leading scorer in the Premier League and European competitions.

He claimed two league titles during his time on Merseyside as well as the Champions League and a handful of domestic cups. But the decision to leave this legacy behind was not easy.

A combination of simmering tensions with former manager Arne Slot, a tactical shift to younger forwards and the player turning 34 all likely contributed to him calling it quits. Where Salah will next ply his trade is unknown as he treads new ground with Egypt at the World Cup. But what is clear is the love he will forever have for the Reds.

In his farewell message, he said: "I never imagined how deeply this club, this city, these people would become part of my life. Liverpool is not just a football club, it's a passion, it's a history, it's a spirit.

"I can't explain in words to anyone not part of this club. This club will always be my home to me and to my family. Thank you for everything."
