Chelsea back in for Man United target as£6.8m bid rejected, BlueCo fail to learn

Chelsea’s work in the transfer window has largely been frustrating at this stage, with the Blues unable to add to the signing of Marco Palestra. BlueCo have seen another bid rejected, this time by Toulouse.

Palestra remains the only arrival since Xabi Alonso was appointed Chelsea manager. Of course, previously signed players like Dastan Satpaev, Geovany Quenda, and Valentin Barco will arrive in the coming weeks.

Chelsea have 10 centre-backs – who are YOU getting rid of? ❌

Players loaned out last season will also return, and some may come back as if they were new signings. But Chelsea have failed, as things stand, to get deals over the line for Granit Xhaka, Pep Chavarria and more.

It is a new sense of frustration for Chelsea fans, who are used to seeing BlueCo blow aside opposition in the transfer market and pay over the odds. Now, more frustration; Chelsea want another teenage talent.

Chelsea back in for Toulouse star Alexis Vossah after bid rejected

According to Fussball Europa, Chelsea tabled an offer worth £6.8m for teenage midfielder Alexis Vossah last summer. He was yet to make his debut for Toulouse at the time, and has since made 25 appearances.

The midfielder broke into Toulouse’s side this season, with all of his career matches at senior level being played over the last 12 months. He has a contract with Ligue 1 side Toulouse until the summer of 2028.

A clear indication that Chelsea’s talent spotters had identified a player of proper potential, without him having even made a first-team debut. Now, Manchester United and Crystal Palace are also interested.

Toulouse, though, want a whole lot more than the £6.8m bid Chelsea made last summer. With first-team football under his belt, Toulouse are requesting a total of £21m if they are to sell the France U19 star.

More proof that BlueCo’s words are simply meaningless

Behdad Eghbali spoke ahead of the window. He said that Chelsea would be targeting older players with leadership and experience clearly lacking in this side, stating the owners would learn from mistakes.

Who do you want to see Chelsea sign for each of these positions? 👀

Well, let’s analyse that. Chelsea have signed a 21-year-old defender, who has only had one season at the top level. Albeit, there is excitement around Palestra after winning the Serie A Defender of the Year award.

Chelsea have shown interest in more experienced players like Xhaka, Chavarria, and Maxence Lacroix. But Chelsea’s £8m bid for Xhaka proves they are unprepared to spend big on a player without resale value.

Yet, the Blues continue to be linked with young players. The likes of Vossah is more proof of that, and while there is no doubting the talent of Vossah, it is another young player that Chelsea simply don’t need.
