Goodison Park will host its first men’s match since Everton’s emotional win over Southampton - when Preston North End call it home next month.
Preston have agreed a deal with the Blues to accommodate their Carabao Cup first-round game against Huddersfield Town.
The Lilywhites are in need of an alternative venue while they have a hybrid pitch installed at Deepdale.
The fixture, set for 3pm on Saturday, August 8, will be the first time senior men’s football has been played at the Grand Old Lady since Everton’s emotional farewell in May 2025, when goals from Iliman Ndiaye saw them overcome Southampton 2-0 before a send-off featuring live music and former players.
The ground is now the home of Everton Women, while it also hosted some matches involving the club’s Under-18s and Under-21s last season.
Preston's Carabao Cup tie will be played while the Everton first team is in Germany, with David Moyes’ side set to face Stuttgart on the same day as part of their pre-season work.
