Arsenal winger Vivienne Lia has returned from her loan spell at Hammarby. The 19-year-old had been on loan at the Swedish club since February and was initially going to stay there until the end of the Damallsvenskan season in November.
However, Lia will return early due to the U20 World Cup in September, which would see her miss up to a month of the domestic season. Lia made 12 appearances for Hammarby notching a goal and an assist.
Hammarby sporting director Arnór Smárason says the U20 World Cup is the driver behind the decision to end the loan early, ‘We have chosen to use a written clause and break the loan agreement with Vivienne. Viv has an U20 World Cup later this year which would have meant that she would have missed most of the autumn with us.’
The U20 World Cup takes place in Poland in September. Lia has also spent time on loan at Nottingham Forest in WSL2.
