Chelsea are prepared to let Alejandro Garnacho leave the club just a year after signing him, according to The Athletic, with the west London side ready to negotiate a permanent exit rather than a loan.
Chelsea paid around £40m to prise Garnacho away from Manchester United last summer, but the winger's debut campaign at Stamford Bridge failed to live up to expectations.
He managed just one goal and four assists in 24 Premier League appearances, only 14 of which came as a starter, as he struggled to nail down a consistent role in the side.
According to _The Athletic's_ reporting, Chelsea are ready to move the 22-year-old on this summer, with any departure expected to be on a permanent basis rather than another loan spell.
Manchester United are understood to hold a sell-on clause worth around 10% of any future fee, giving them a financial interest in where Garnacho ends up next. The exact amount Chelsea would want for the winger has not been made clear, but two clubs set to play in next season's Champions League are said to be showing interest, though their identities remain unconfirmed.
Garnacho previously attracted interest from Italy, with Napoli, Roma, Juventus and AC Milan all credited with monitoring his situation around a month ago, offering an early indication of where a move could eventually materialise if talks progress.
AS Roma in particular have been credited with a preference for a loan deal, though that would sit uneasily with Chelsea's stated wish to recoup a significant part of their outlay through a permanent sale.
The Argentine winger, who still has a contract at Chelsea running until the summer of 2032, will hope any exit brings the regular football that eluded him during his solitary season in west London, after a similar pattern of promise without consistency also marked the closing stages of his time at Manchester United.
His situation forms part of a broader reshaping of Chelsea's attacking options under new head coach Xabi Alonso, who has already moved on several players since taking charge and is understood to be assessing Garnacho closely during pre-season before any final decision is made on his future.
