Liverpool stars begin pre-season preparations as Jeremy Jacquet links up with new teammates

Liverpool players have begun reporting back for pre-season training, with the first group of first-team players reporting to the AXA Training Centre on Tuesday.

New head coach Andoni Iraola put some of his new players through their paces as the Spaniard begins his reign properly, with his sights set on getting the Reds back challenging for major honors after last season’s poor showing.

Many of Liverpool’s big guns are still away, either on holiday or making the way back soon after being involved in the World Cup, but there were some notable names involved in training on Tuesday, most notably new signing Jeremy Jacquet.

The 20-year-old defender was at the Reds’ Kirkby base, having completed his $80 million transfer from Rennes last week after a deal was agreed back in January.

Joining him were Harvey Elliott - who is back after his loan spell at Aston Villa - Wataru Endo, James McConnell, and Stefan Bajcetic. Giovanni Leoni and Conor Bradley were also present after suffering serious injuries last season, as was Hugo Ekitike.

The striker is still a long way off making a return after rupturing his Achilles, but after cruelly missing out on a spot with France at the World Cup, he is eyeing up a comeback during the festive period.
