Everton want to sign £50m Arsenal star

Everton are exploring a move for Arsenal right-back Ben White this summer, according to The Athletic.

White has been with the Gunners since the summer of 2021, but his future is uncertain, with no plans to extend his contract.

His current deal expires in June 2028, and The Telegraph have already claimed that the Englishman is ‘expected‘ to depart.

The Athletic now report that White is one of the options under consideration by the Toffees for the right-back position.

Arsenal could part ways with White

The 28-year-old signed for the Gunners from Brighton & Hove Albion for £50 million five years ago.

He started his debut campaign as a central defender before moving to the right-back spot in 2022/23 to facilitate William Saliba’s breakthrough.

In recent years, Jurrien Timber has displaced White to become an undisputed starter at right-back.

White has had limited starts and has largely started in the last two years, when the Dutchman has been rested or sidelined due to injury.

The Englishman has also had an injury streak in recent seasons. He picked up a knee injury in May, which ruled him out of the World Cup.

In our view, it is probably the right time to part ways with White. The Gunners may seek to recoup around £25-30m to pursue a successor.

It appears Arsenal and manager Mikel Arteta may want an experienced replacement, with Aston Villa star Ezri Konsa on the transfer radar.

Arteta is personally driving the pursuit of the 28-year-old, who is primarily a central defender but can also comfortably play at right-back.

Villa are holding out for a hefty £60m fee. That figure may have to be reduced significantly for the Gunners to do business with them.

The club are also looking at other alternatives, including West Ham United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The Hammers value him at around £25m.
