Arsenal are on the verge of completing two transfers that could greatly affect the rest of their summer window. Piero Hincapie's £34.5million move remains the Gunners' only completed move thus far but that looks set to change in the very near future.
The World Cup has thrown a spanner in the works by distracting some of the elite talent in the world. However, that impasse will soon be a thing of the past after the tournament entered its final fortnight.
Mikel Arteta has business to consider through both the arrivals door and the departures gate as a busy July heats up. And Mirror Football breaks down the latest murmurs from north London as the Gunners get their tools in place for pre-season.
Personal terms 'agreed' with Kone
France star Manu Kone could become the first entirely new face to join Arsenal this summer. Corriere della Sera has reported that not only have Arsenal held talks with his representatives but personal terms are already agreed between the two parties.
This would means the Gunners need only settle on a fee with his current club, Roma, and the player is theirs. However, his involvement with France at the World Cup this summer could slow negotiations down somewhat.
Kone, who has the seal of approval from Gunners great Patrick Vieira, has appeared in three of France's five World Cup games so far this summer. That includes 90-minute displays in the group-stage wins over Norway and Iraq, followed by another commanding performance in the last-16 fixture against Paraguay.
Roma reportedly value the midfield anchor at around £43m, which would be well within Arsenal's budget. The 25-year-old still has three years left to run on the contract he signed upon joining the Giallorossi in 2024.
Arteta's midfield options appeared stretched last season amid injuries to the likes of Mikel Merino and captain Martin Odegaard. As such, it appears Arsenal are intent on adding at least one more option this summer, with Kone supposedly ticking that box.

Leandro Trossard's representatives are reportedly set to fly to Istanbul for showdown talks with Besiktas. The Black Eagles have been touted to sign the Belgian winger for months now and are finally on the cusp of completion.
Turkish newspaper Sabah reported Arsenal have agreed a deal for Trossard said to be worth around £15.5m. That's slightly less than the £17m fee Trossard was previously expected to move for.
It's also reported Trossard's agent and lawyer were in London earlier this week, presumably to settle things with the Gunners on their end. However, there's yet to be confirmation as to whether the Belgium star has given the thumbs up regarding personal terms.
Earlier this summer, reports in Turkey suggested Besiktas were some way wide of matching the player's expectations. Trossard was allegedly offered an annual salary of around £8.3m (roughly £160,000 a week) to join Saudi outfit Diriyah earlier this summer.
Links to Besiktas haven't died down throughout those rumours, suggesting they have the inside edge on the move. And another development could come in the very near future as Arsenal look to raise some much-needed funds.
