Liverpool's pursuit of new additions this summer has been somewhat subdued. The signing of Victor Munoz from Osasuna remains the Reds' sole venture into the transfer market thus far.
The ongoing World Cup is undoubtedly proving a significant stumbling block for clubs eager to conclude their business swiftly. Andoni Iraola is anticipated to assess his existing squad carefully, though further arrivals do appear to be on the cards.
In today's transfer news, one player linked with a switch to the Reds, who is currently shining at the World Cup, has been urged to stay put at his present club. Meanwhile, fresh details have emerged regarding the future of former Liverpool favourite Mohamed Salah, who departed Anfield this summer.
World Cup star update
Bradley Barcola has been encouraged to turn down the prospect of a lucrative move to Liverpool, by former Chelsea defender Marcel Desailly. The ex-French international has urged the young winger to continue his development at Paris Saint-Germain.
Liverpool have shifted their focus towards the wide man, currently representing France at the World Cup, with RB Leipzig's Yan Diomande understood to prefer a move to PSG instead.
The European champions are adamant they have no intention of letting Barcola leave and value the 23-year-old at upwards of £100million, with Arsenal also thought to be monitoring the situation. "Barcola doesn't need to leave PSG," he said.

"He's too young. (France national team head coach) Didier Deschamps is teaching him a lesson and he's giving him a chance. I thought that for Barcola to start and play 90 minutes at the international level, he wouldn't do it because Barcola is too light on defensive discipline.
"Remember, we play with four offensive players, and bringing Barcola into the system could have been another weakness because he doesn't make the effort to defend. When you look at his previous matches with PSG, or even some of the matches he did for the national team during the Euros, he had that weakness.
"He's young; the attention and defensive alertness isn't there to match the speed he projects when he's going forward.
"He wasn't making the effort to get back into position. So, should he move to the Premier League? Not yet. Not yet at all. Sorry Arsenal and Liverpool fans. He should stay at Paris Saint-Germain, play 25 games a season, and grow within that system."
Mo Salah update
Italian heavyweights Roma and Juventus are understood to have looked into the prospect of acquiring Salah during this summer's transfer window. The winger remains a constant subject of speculation, particularly from Saudi Arabia where there has been enduring interest in the 34-year-old.

The Mail has reported that Roma, the club Salah joined Liverpool from, and Juventus are keen but may encounter significant financial obstacles in their bid to lure the Egyptian star back to Serie A. Salah is anticipated to demand a substantial salary wherever he ends up this summer.
The United States has been mentioned as another possible destination, while the report also notes that clubs in Turkey have registered their interest.
Speaking in the build-up to the World Cup, Salah suggested his future would be sorted once the tournament had concluded. "I am still assessing things," he said. "I have time now. I am going to the World Cup and then everything will become clear."
