Liverpool have been handed big boost in quest to sign "incredible" Champions League winner

**Liverpool have been given a big boost in their efforts to sign Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga this summer, according to a new transfer claim.**

The Reds are edging closer to the start of pre-season, with some youngsters already returning and new head coach Andoni Iraola getting used to his surroundings.

For now, the 2026 World Cup is taking centre stage, which is arguably slowing down any potential transfer business for Liverpool, with Victor Munoz the only signing to date, coming in from Osasuna.

But at least one new central midfielder is needed for the Reds before the 2026/27 season gets underway, and Camavinga has been linked with a move to Anfield.

The 23-year-old missed out on a place in France’s World Cup squad, following a tricky season at Madrid, and _[Mundo Deportivo](https://www.mundodeportivo.com/futbol/real-madrid/20260706/1004203473/premier-pendiente-camavinga-tchouameni.html)_ now claim that he is surplus to requirements there this summer.

New manager Jose Mourinho reportedly doesn’t see him as part of his plans into the future, and it suddenly gives interested clubs a boost, including Liverpool.

Eduardo Camavinga can re-find his groove at Liverpool

-----------------------------------------------------

Camavinga may have stalled a little in his career over the past 12 months, but he is a top-level midfielder on top form, winning the Champions League and being lauded by former Rennes sporting director [Florian Maurice](https://madriduniversal.com/real-madrid-midfield-sensation-earns-praise-from-former-clubs-director-formidable-player-and-person/) in the past:

_“He is a fantastic player. What he did so young at Rennes was incredible. And what he is doing right now at a club the size of Real Madrid is incredible. He’s a French international, he’s a formidable player and person. Everything he achieves is deserved. He did great things at Rennes and to impose himself at a club like Real Madrid is extraordinary.”_

Admittedly, there would be some risk in Liverpool signing Camavinga, given his recent form in a Madrid shirt, but it may simply be that he needs a reset and a new challenge.

He is a class act who would bring control, work ethic and a winning mentality to the Reds’ midfield, and while it feels as though he has been around forever, he is still a young footballer with so much more to offer.
