Man City and Liverpool are keeping close tabs on Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, according to reports in Spain.

Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo have been assessing the futures of both Camavinga and teammate Aurelien Tchouameni, and they claim that the former is more likely to leave the Bernabeu.

Real are said to be willing to “listen to offers” for Camavinga as the Frenchman “does not enter into [Jose] Mourinho’s plans”.

The player is reportedly determined to prove his worth in pre-season, but if he can’t turn the situation around, City and Liverpool are waiting in the wings to snap him up before the transfer window closes.

Man City want to sign a second midfielder

Despite having broken their transfer record for Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson, City’s Director of Football Hugo Viana is believed to be seeking another addition in the middle of the park.

Doubts remain about the long-term future of Rodri, who is not close to signing a new contract, with his current deal set to expire next year.

Mateo Kovacic also has less than twelve months remaining on his contract, and the Croatian could be offloaded, along with Nico Gonzalez and Tijjani Reijnders.

Camavinga is one of several midfield targets

Talks have been held with the agent of Ayyoub Bouaddi, but his excessive asking price, combined with Lille’s request to keep him on loan for another season, could prove to be a stumbling block in negotiations.

Bournemouth’s Alex Scott and Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez are among the other names that have been linked with a move to the Etihad.

With Camavinga not immediately available for transfer, though, it is possible that Viana will end up pursuing one of the alternatives to ensure that head coach Enzo Maresca is given some time to work with the new signing ahead of the new season.
