Tottenham-linked West Ham attacker subject of serious interest from Liverpool.
After making six major signings this summer, including central midfielders Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes, Tottenham Hotspur have set their sights on signing a winger.
Liverpool star Cody Gakpo has been linked with a move to the Lilywhites since the start of the summer, while Rafael Leao is ready to say ‘yes’ to Roberto De Zerbi’s project if Spurs can agree on a fee with AC Milan. Tottenham have also been closely monitoring the situation of Crysencio Summerville at West Ham.
Crysencio Summerville was one of the few to impress for the Netherlands at the World Cup, bagging two goals and as many assists in four appearances. However, the Netherlands exited the World Cup at the hands of Morocco in a penalty shootout in the Round of 32 last week.
Recent reports have suggested that the 24-year-old could be available for as little as £40million this summer, thanks to a relegation clause in his West Ham contract. Yet, Spurs could face complications in their pursuit of the nippy winger.
Liverpool make serious move for Crysencio Summerville
According to an exclusive report from CaughtOffside, Liverpool’s search for a new wide player could take them to Summerville, who is keen to leave the Hammers after relegation from the top flight. The Reds have made ‘a serious move’ for the West Ham attacker, as per sources close to industry agents.
Summerville is a profile who would improve both Tottenham and Liverpool. After the departure of Mohamed Salah and the serious Achilles injury to Hugo Ekitike, Liverpool are in dire need of reinforcements in wide areas of the pitch. Despite signing Victor Munoz from Osasuna, the Reds need a proven commodity to fill the void created by Salah. And Summerville certainly fits that category.
For Tottenham, the rising Dutch star could actually become the starting left-winger in the 2026/27 season. Summerville is better and more experienced than Tel, adding more dynamism and variety to Spurs’ attack. However, if the Lilywhites’ battle is against Liverpool for the West Ham attacker, it will be difficult to persuade him to choose De Zerbi’s project without Champions League football.
Having said that, Tottenham must have a back-up plan if Summerville’s pursuit fails.
