Arsenal Women have confirmed the signing of Switzerland international Geraldine Reuteler, with the experienced midfielder becoming the club’s latest addition ahead of the new Women’s Super League season.
The 27-year-old arrives on a permanent deal after leaving German side Eintracht Frankfurt, where she established herself as one of the Bundesliga’s standout midfielders during an eight-year spell.
Reuteler is understood to have signed a four-year contract and will wear the No. 14 shirt in north London.
She becomes Arsenal’s third signing of the summer following the arrivals of Georgia Stanway and Selina Cerci as Renee Slegers continues to strengthen her squad.
Reuteler leaves Frankfurt after an outstanding spell in Germany, having scored 54 goals and registered 44 assists in 184 appearances across all competitions.
Her consistent performances earned widespread recognition, including the Swiss Women’s Player of the Year award in 2024.
The midfielder also brings significant international experience to Arsenal.
Reuteler has won 91 caps for Switzerland since making her senior debut in 2017 and has scored 17 international goals.
She played a key role as Switzerland reached the quarter-finals of UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 on home soil, the nation’s best-ever finish at the tournament.
Speaking after completing the move, Reuteler admitted joining Arsenal represented a major milestone in her career.
“Arsenal is one of the best clubs in the world and I’m so proud that I can be here,” she said.
“I love the way this team plays and I can’t wait to test myself against the best players in the WSL.”
“I want to add to the history and success of this football club.”
Head coach Renee Slegers believes Reuteler possesses the qualities needed to make an immediate impact.
The Arsenal boss praised the Swiss international’s technical ability, intelligence and athleticism, describing her as an excellent addition to the midfield group ahead of pre-season.
Director of Women’s Football Clare Wheatley revealed Reuteler had been on Arsenal’s radar for some time.
She described the midfielder as a long-term target whose experience at both club and international level will strengthen the squad’s pursuit of more silverware.
Reuteler began her football journey with FC Stans before joining FC Luzern, where she made her senior debut in the Swiss top flight at just 15 years of age.
Her move to Frankfurt in 2018 accelerated her development into one of Europe’s most complete midfielders, capable of contributing creatively and defensively.
Arsenal’s latest signing underlines the club’s ambition to build on last season.
