Tottenham are ready to take their summer spending spree to another level by pushing the boat out to land Bournemouth's sought-after striker, Eli Junior Kroupi.

Spurs have wasted no time in significantly strengthening a squad that flirted with relegation from the Premier League last season, firstly with the shrewd acquisitions of Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi on free transfers before moving on to strike further deals for substantial sums.

The club have spent in excess of £237million on deals for the Brighton defender, Jan Paul van Hecke, West Ham's Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali, who joins from Newcastle for a record transfer fee worth £100m in total.

But Tottenham are expected to spend further still and have Kroupi in their sights following the striker's stunning maiden season in the Premier League.

The talented 20-year-old plundered 13 goals for Bournemouth, catching the eye of Europe's elite including both of last season's Champions League finalists, Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain.

Barcelona are now the latest heavyweight to give consideration to an audacious swoop for Kroupi, according to a new report from Sport. However, they add that Tottenham are the club most determined to sign him — and are ready to 'go all out' to do so.

The report adds that Roberto De Zerbi is encouraging Spurs to accelerate their pursuit of the player, who is viewed as an alternative to Julian Alvarez by Barca, who have had no luck in their pursuit of the prolific Argentina star.

Spurs are not the only Premier League side who could test Bournemouth's resolve when it comes to Kroupi with Arsenal also potentially in the market for a new No 9, although their movement could hinge on whether or not another forward is sold.

Bournemouth would be loathed to lose Kroupi and are said to want at least €100m (£85.5m) to even consider selling the latest gem acquired by the south coast club.

Elsewhere, Tottenham have boosted the coffers by selling academy produce Alfie Devine to Preston North End following the midfielder's productive loan spell at Deepdale last season.

Devine moves for a fee worth around £6m in total — a sum almost three times greater than the Championship club's previous record outlay.
