Jordan Henderson's father has revealed the England midfielder has "completely smashed" his forearm during the freak, horrific injury sustained in the aftermath of the 3-2 triumph over Mexico at the Azteca Stadium.
The former Liverpool captain, 36, required a stretcher and oxygen after tumbling over the advertising boards during the celebrations that marred a memorable World Cup victory. Henderson, who didn't feature in the match, was left in agony following the jubilant scenes with the England supporters after Jude Bellingham's brace and a Harry Kane spot-kick secured a quarterfinal berth.
Henderson stayed behind in Mexico City while his colleagues traveled back to their Kansas City headquarters, where he underwent an operation.
The 36-year-old's father, Brian, has disclosed that he will stay in the United States throughout England's campaign toward the 19 July final as the team prepares to meet Norway on Saturday for a semifinal spot.
Henderson Sr. informed Mail Online: "It's his left forearm — he's just completely smashed it.
"He's going to have a cast on, and then it depends on what the experts say. He won't be leaving his teammates. He'll be there until it's finished."

Henderson's father is currently in Britain monitoring the World Cup remotely and was unaware of how serious the injury was when it occurred.
The BBC Sport television broadcast failed to show the incident, and during the celebrations, it became apparent that a member of the England squad had sustained an injury and was being treated by medics.
Newcastle defender Dan Burn was among the first to arrive at the scene, with Brian revealing he remained awake throughout the night and into the early hours, awaiting news.
Mentioning that a surgeon experienced in treating NFL players had been arranged to attend to the midfielder, Brian explained: "At first, I just thought he'd fallen. I thought he'd maybe scraped his wrist.
"I had no idea it was that serious until they were interviewing Harry Kane, and a trolley came past with Jordan on it. I could see him on there with oxygen and things.

"Straight away, I messaged his PA, who was over there, to try and find out what had happened. I was up all night waiting to hear the news. It's just a waiting game now."
On Tuesday, Henderson addressed the incident publicly for the first time. The 36-year-old was an unused substitute against the co-hosts but remained animated from the touchline, even receiving a yellow card during the closing stages.
He commented: "A night to remember that's for sure! What an incredible performance against all the different challenges. So proud to be a part of this special team [emojis]. Thanks for all the support, another big one Saturday."
