Arsenal and Tottenham could be handed a boost in the hunt to sign Bournemouth star Eli Junior Kroupi as Barcelona's preference emerges. Barcelona have been named as one of the clubs interested in the Frenchman as they consider alternatives to Julian Alvarez.

According to Spanish outlet SPORT, Kroupi is an option for Hansi Flick's side if they fail in their efforts to sign the Argentine international. However, El Chiringuito TV have claimed that the Catalan side have a growing optimism over completing a deal to sign Alvarez that could reach £111million.

The reports from Spain could be viewed as a boost, with both North London clubs rumoured to be fighting to sign the 20-year-old, while reigning Champions League holders Paris Saint-Germain are said to be interested.

But the contrasting speculation raises uncertainty over the pursuit of the Bournemouth attacker who scored 13 goals in 33 Premier League matches.

Sport suggests that Kroupi is an alternative to Alvarez if Barcelona feel that the deal is no longer feasible. However, with multiple reports suggesting that Barca are leading contenders to sign Alvarez, it could give a free run for Spurs and Arsenal to sign Kroupi.

While from the Cherries' perspective, he is not for sale, but it has been suggested that Bournemouth want to make a profit from the sale, with Spurs reportedly viewed as the "most persistent" of all.

Roberto De Zerbi's side have already splashed the cash on a glut of new arrivals this summer but are still pursuing other targets, with Kroupi high on the wishlist.

The report from Sport claims that Spurs are considering spending big to land the attacker, and Barcelona are aware of that, while PSG would be willing to offer close to €100million (£85m). The player would supposedly join Barcelona but the fact they are prioirtising Alvarez means Spurs and Arsenal might not have to worry about them.

Meanwhile, El Chringuito has claimed that Barcelona's summer transfer exploits will accelerate upon the conclusion of the World Cup.

In their quest for Alvarez, the search is currently on hold after Lionel Messi's heroics ensured the defending champions remained on course to successfully defend their crown, coming from two goals down to beat Egypt 3-2.

TalkSPORT have reported that Spurs will plot to test Bournemouth's resolve over Kroupi with a bid worth £85million despite the South Coast club's current stance.
