Inter Milan remains keen on Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones but has so far failed to come close to matching the kind of transfer fee required to sign the England international

With a year left on his contract and interest from Inter Milan dating back to at least the winter transfer window, this summer looked set to be an interesting one for Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones.
Arne Slot didn't want to use Jones as much as the 25-year-old would have liked, and a new challenge looked to await. It remains to be seen if that changes because of the arrival of Andoni Iraola.
While Inter remains keen on Jones, though, Liverpool would need to bring in a price worthy of letting him go. With several other things that are required by the Reds in the transfer market in the next few weeks, adding a central midfielder to that list would be unwise.
If Jones pushed to go and a deal was agreed at a reasonable fee, that would perhaps be different. For now, though, no such development has arisen.
And according to the Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport, Inter Milan would be willing to wait a year to sign Jones should it need to, aware that it could pick him up as a free agent.
"Jones, we are paying attention to him," Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio said around a month ago.

"We didn't hide. We understand what the developments will be."
Liverpool wants around $47 million (£35 million) for the player, but he only has a year left on his contract. With Inter working on a tight summer budget, the suggestion is that it might not be able to bring him in until 2027.
In that time, however, things could look very different. Jones might have a different position in the Liverpool pecking order, or more clubs might come to the table to challenge for his signature.
It might also simply be a bargaining position from Inter in a bid to bring the asking price down, so an interesting few weeks could be ahead.

"Jones only asked me how life is in Italy," Federico Chiesa explained earlier in the summer.
"I told him you live very well and the weather is better than Liverpool. Jones is technically very strong; Inter are right to think about him.
"As for Alisson Becker, from what I hear, he stays in England, but we will see. He is one of the best five goalkeepers in the world."

Liverpool.com says: Jones moving to Inter would see him be a main man, but the clean slate under Iraola should make him think twice. Like Harvey Elliott, he is a Reds fan, and he won't want to make an exit too soon if he doesn't need to.
