The transfer of Dario Osorio has taken a new turn. As per latest news, Benfica will be clashing with Arsenal for the Chilean right winger.
Benfica clashes with the Gunners for Osorio
The Gunners are leading the race to secure the 22-year-old right winger for the upcoming season. However, Portuguese club Benfica has also joined the race. As reported by FootballLondon, current manager Marco Silva has been a fan of his work. He wants to bring Osorio to Lisbon as soon as possible.
Dario Osorio currently plays for the Danish club Midtjylland. He joined the club in 2023. Before that, the right winger from Chile played for Club Universidad de Chile between 2021 and 2023.

Can Arsenal secure Dario Osorio?
Arsenal are well capable of bringing Dario Osorio to the Emirates Stadium. The Chilean right winger is priced between £13 million and £15 million. He has a contract that will expire by 2030. However, if the North London club submits a suitable offer, Osorio can opt for an Arsenal transfer.
Osorio performed brilliantly for his club last year. Midtjylland finished runners-up in the Superliga. They also won the Danish Cup. Additionally, they made it to the Round of 16 in the UEFA Europa League. As such, Osorio can blend well with Arsenal, who are the current Premier League champions. With a total of 85 points, they won back their first Premier League trophy in 22 years.
Osorio has a long way to go before choosing between Arsenal and Benfica. The right winger was a part of Chile team that played in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers. However, they were unable to make it. With just two wins, Chile finished bottom of the World Cup qualifying campaign [South American region].
Future Gameplan for Dario Osorio
Osorio needs to improve on both his health as well as his discipline if he wants to make it big in club football. The right-winger received five yellow cards in the 2025-26 Superliga. He also sustained a muscle injury in September 2025. This injury happened just before a crucial match against Brazil. This injury kept him out of action for a while.
Arsenal had a dream run in the 2025-26 season. With the exception of FA Cup, they made it to the finals of almost every major European football tournament, including the UEFA Champions League. Arsenal narrowly lost the final to Paris Saint-Germain 4-3 on penalties.
Naturally, team manager Mikel Arteta would like to maintain the winning momentum for the 2026-27 season. That’s why he is seeking out players on almost every front. The Gunners are interested in players like Morgan Rogers, Adam Wharton, and Eli Junior Kroupi amongst others for the upcoming season. Likewise, Dario Osorio is also on their wishlist for now. He can strengthen the forward lineup for the Gunners if he agrees to join them for the upcoming season.
Undoubtedly, with Benfica’s entry in the transfer race, it won’t be a smooth ride for Arsenal for now. However, if they want to strengthen their attacking lineup, they will make a move for Dario Osorio. He has worked wonders in Danish club football. If he joins Arsenal, he has a bright future ahead. It remains to be seen if he is equally interested in joining the North London club.
