Bruno Guimaraes has told the Newcastle United hierarchy that he wants to join Arsenal.
Bruno Guimaraes has told Newcastle United that he wishes to join Arsenal this summer.
As reported by The Gazette last week, Guimaraes had been seriously considering his Toon future. The Brazilian has watched on from North America as Newcastle sanctioned sales for Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali.
Arsenal expressed interest last month and saw an offer worth around £55million turned down. Just days after Brazil exited the World Cup to Norway - in a game where Guimaraes missed a crucial penalty - he has not expressed a desire to leave.

According to The Athletic, the Gunners are set to step up their approach and value the midfielder at £60million. Guimaraes turns 29 in November and has two years remaining on his current deal.
Signed in January 2022, the Brazilian is Newcastle’s captain and has played a crucial role during his four years. He helped the Magpies secure multiple Champions League qualifications and captained the team to Carabao Cup silverware in 2024-25.
However, the sale of Alexander Isak last summer proved a turning point for the Saudi-backed project. Newcastle failed to reinvest the £125million fee well and slumped to a 12th-placed finish.
With Guimaraes reaching a pivotal point of his career, he has now told the St James’ Park hierarchy that his time on Tyneside is up. Mikel Arteta is keen on the Toon talisman, with Arsenal already boasting a strong Brazilian contingent - Gabriel and Gabriel Martinelli - in their ranks.
