Leeds United’s midfield remains a top priority this summer as Daniel Farke’s side look to build on an impressive 2025/26 campaign.
Recruitment chiefs at Elland Road are known to hold interest in Southampton youngster Shea Charles and will continue to assess other options.
However, Leeds have already completed their first signing of the summer transfer window, officially announcing the arrival of former Liverpool forward Harry Wilson following the expiry of his contract at Fulham.
The 29-year-old has signed a four-year deal with the Whites after choosing Leeds over several other offers. The club came close to signing Wilson last summer but ran out of time on deadline day as Fulham were unable to secure their own targets before allowing him to leave.
Wilson arrives as an experienced Premier League and international attacker, capable of operating across the forward line while offering creativity and quality in the final third.
The Welshman began his career at Liverpool, making two first-team appearances at Anfield before gaining valuable experience through a series of loan spells.
A move to Hull City saw him flourish, scoring seven goals in 13 appearances and earning both the club’s Player of the Month award and the PFA Championship Player of the Month award.
He later joined Derby County on loan, where he continued to impress, finishing the season with 15 goals and scoring a memorable long-range free-kick against Manchester United in the League Cup.
Wilson then stepped up to the Premier League with Bournemouth, scoring in his first two appearances and finishing the campaign with seven goals, including another stunning free-kick against Manchester City.
After a season with Cardiff City, where he recorded his first professional hat-trick, Wilson joined Fulham in 2021. He played a key role in their promotion to the Premier League during his first season, scoring 12 goals, before helping the club establish themselves in the top flight.
Wilson leaves Fulham after nearly 200 appearances, having enjoyed a standout final season in which he scored 11 goals and provided eight assists.
Alongside his club career, Wilson has been a key figure for Wales. He became the youngest player to represent the national team in 2013, surpassing Gareth Bale’s record, and has since earned 69 caps, featuring at Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup.
“Delighted,” was the first word that Wilson said when asked about joining the Whites, speaking to LUTV. “Really, really excited.
“It is a massive, massive club in the Premier League where the club belongs so, yeah, really excited to join and hope to have some exciting years together.
“To play for Leeds, you have to have a big personality. You have to be able to deal with pressure – the demands of the club and demands of the fans. You have to be able to take the pressure and go out and perform.”
“This summer was different. When the season finished and I became a free transfer, I felt Leeds were the team that really showed the interest in me,” he added.
“And as a player, you want to play for a team which you feel like they want you and you feel like they are doing everything to get you. Speaking with the Welsh boys, I think it was pretty clear that this was the place that I wanted to come.”
“I think personally and collectively, it was a strong, strong season,” Wilson explained, reflecting on his fine year in West London.
“I think as an attacker, you are judged on your numbers. My numbers last season were good. I really enjoyed last season and I feel like I am in a really good place coming to Leeds and going into the new one.”
When Harry Wilson was sold to Fulham in 2022, Liverpool inserted a 15 per cent sell-on clause into the deal. A similar agreement has already generated revenue for the Reds from Bobby Clark’s £7million move to Derby County via RB Salzburg.
However, with Wilson leaving Fulham as a free agent, Liverpool will miss out on any additional income from the transfer to Leeds this summer.
