Bruno Guimaraes to miss Newcastle United training next week amid £60m Arsenal bombshell -…

Bruno Guimaraes has been given extra time off following his World Cup commitments with Brazil.

Newcastle United are set to return to first-team training on Monday as preparations for the Premier League campaign begin.

There will be a different feel to their Benton home when the squad reunite next week. Not only has the training ground been rebranded as The Knox - due to a lucrative sponsorship deal - but several high-profile stars have left.

Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali departed in recent weeks to leave big shoes to fill at St James' Park. Kieran Trippier also moved on when his contract expired at the end of last season.

Fresh faces will include Ewan Jaouen and Bazoumana Toure. However, there will be no sign of Bruno Guimaraes amid speculation linking him to Arsenal.

Those who represented their respective countries at the World Cup have been given extra time off. Dan Burn remains the sole Toon star still in action after Guimaraes and Brazil were knocked out by Norway last week.

The Magpies have already snubbed an advance worth around £55million last month. Arsenal are keen to make a second approach despite Newcastle insisting he is not for sale.

The squad start their 2026-27 pre-season camp on Monday, with a behind-closed-doors friendly against Darlington the following weekend. Gateshead, Bristol City, Valencia, Everton, Bayer Leverkusen and RC Strasbourg complete the warm-up fixtures before Newcastle face Liverpool in the top-flight opener on August 23.
