The Blues, on Wednesday, announced the arrival of the highly-rated teenager from Sporting CP after winning the transfer battle - involving Manchester United - last year.

Standard Sport understands Chelsea have paid a fee in the region of £40million for the 19-year-old, who has signed a contract that will keep him at the club until 2034.

Quenda spent the season with Sporting to continue his first-team development but is now relishing the chance to play for Chelsea and new manager Xabi Alonso.

Meslier completes Arsenal medical

Illan Meslier has completed his Arsenal medical.

That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who reports that the free signing agreement has all been finalised with the contract signed.

Meslier will act as third-choice goalkeeper at Arsenal, allowing youngster Tommy Setford to leave on loan.

Official confirmation could be imminent.

Arsenal see second Bruno Guimaraes offer rejected

Arsenal have had a second proposal for Bruno Guimaraes rejected by Newcastle.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Brazilian has told his club that he wishes to pursue interest from the Gunners following a £55million offer dismissed last week.

A second ‘soft’ bid has gone in and been rejected, said to be worth £65m.

Newcastle insist there have been no official bids, and the player is not for sale.

Romano reports that Guimaraes could cost £90m.

He is Newcastle’s captain and has three years to run on his contract.

Manchester United 'set deadline' for Marcus Rashford transfer

Manchester United have set a deadline to arrange a transfer for Marcus Rashford, as they close in on the signings of Ederson and Andrey Santos.

Rashford’s future remains up in the air after Barcelona decided against triggering the option to sign the England international permanently for £26million following a season-long loan spell.

Instead, the LaLiga champions moved for Anthony Gordon, signing the winger from Newcastle for £70m.

While Rashford is set for a return to Old Trafford, he is unlikely to be part of Michael Carrick’s plans for the new season after announcing his decision to leave.

Man Utd set for windfall

Manchester United are back on course for a cash injection that may help fund moves for further transfers.

According to the Manchester Evening News, when Man United sold Mason Greenwood to Marseille on a permanent transfer in 2024, they retained a substantial 40 per cent sell-on clause in the £26million deal.

Last month, Fenerbahce presidential candidate Hakan Safi declared that the Turkish club would sign the 24-year-old, should he become club president.

“We have signed a four-year agreement with Mason Greenwood,” Safi said. He has proven himself at the highest level of European football.

“He has agreed to join Fenerbahce during the most valuable and productive years of his career.

"I said I would bring a star player. Today, I am experiencing the justified pride of keeping my promise.”

However, Aziz Yildirim was re-elected in June 2026, returning to the club's helm after an eight-year absence, thus placing a deal for Greenwood in doubt.

That said, Fabrizio Romano claims the deal is back on with Greenwood’s camp informing Fenerbahce they have accepted a contract offer until 2030.

Caballero returns to Man City

Manchester City have confirmed that Willy Caballero is among the coaches that will join the club as part of Enzo Maresca's backroom team.

Roberto Vitiello, Willy Caballero, Danny Walker, Michele De Bernardin, Marcos Alvarez, Denis Silva and Javier Molina will all be part of Maresca’s staff.

Jesse Derry is close to sealing a season-long loan move to Sporting after signing a new long-term contract at Chelsea.

Standard Sport understands that Derry, who made his Premier League debut for the Blues last season, has signed fresh terms until 2032, just a year after joining the club from Crystal Palace.

He said: "It’s a dream come true to commit my future to such a big club like Chelsea. I’m just so excited for what’s to come.”
