Louis Zecevic John finished last season very strongly with Arsenal U18s, with the versatile prospect scoring five goals in nine league games towards the end of the campaign.
Now, though, it is time for an important step up in the youngster’s development as from this season he is no longer eligible to feature for the U18s and will be a full time member of the U21 squad.
Zecevic John already possesses some experience of playing for the older age group having made five appearances last season but his aim now will be to establish himself as a key figure in the team.
His aforementioned versatility could be a useful asset as he is capable of playing as a striker, out wide or even at right-back (as well as an emergency goalkeeper if needed).
The 18-year-old is very skilful and hard working, with the suspicion persisting that he is most effective out wide.
Wherever he is deployed, Zecevic John will be aiming to show that he is capable of performing consistently.
Having helped Serbia qualify for the U19 European Championship, he was surprisingly overlooked for their squad for the final tournament.
That, though, will enable him to have a full pre-season with Arsenal U21s and it will be intriguing to see how much progress he can make during the campaign.
Zecevic John will also still be able to feature for the U19s in the UEFA Youth League and will be determined to gain as much experience as possible overall this season.
