Sky Sports pundit Alan Smith believes Man Utd should consider making a move for France international Manu Kone.
The Roma midfielder has been heavily linked with Arsenal in recent weeks, but speaking exclusively to Man U News (courtesy of Best Betting Sites UK), Smith said that Kone and Bournemouth’s Alex Scott are both viable candidates to strengthen the Manchester club’s options in the middle of the park:
“They need to make reinforcements. Michael Carrick, I’m sure he’s put his feelings across about what he wants. Alex Scott is a player that can play at the top level, I think. Kone, watching him for France, done ever so well.”

“So, yeah, we’ll watch this space because they need to kick on [in the transfer market] now, United, don’t they?”
Roma have been seeking a buyer for Kone
Reports in the Italian media have suggested that the 25-year-old is on the market this summer, despite impressing for his country at the World Cup.
It is believed Roma are still looking to balance the books to avoid another breach of UEFA’s Financial Fair Play rules, and they could be open to offloading Kone for around €50m (£43m).
Man Utd have other midfield targets
Kone was suggested as a potential option for the Red Devils at the back end of last year, but there has been no mention of a move being made for the Frenchman over the past few months.
The top targets for Director of Football Jason Wilcox have been constantly shifting, though, with Elliot Anderson, Mateus Fernandes and Aurelien Tchouameni all seen as the priority at different points this summer.
It remains to be seen whether Kone will come back onto the radar at all. If they fail to get Tchouameni, Scott or Chelsea’s Andrey Santos, perhaps his name will then be considered.
