Nottingham Forest will have a big chequebook this summer. Flush with cash following the record-breaking £116 million sale of Elliot Anderson to Manchester City, the City Ground club will want to reinvest wisely in the summer transfer window.
The Anderson windfall means that Evangelos Marinakis’ side will likely be active in the next weeks. There was also the eye-raising decision to sack Vítor Pereira in early July.
Pereira, who had steered Forest to safety in the Premier League and guided the club to a Europa League semi-final, their first European semi-final since 1984, was let go via a break clause in his contract, reportedly learning of the decision through a late-night email.
In his place comes Oliver Glasner, making him Forest’s fifth head coach in under a year.
Now, with Glasner already in place, attention has shifted to the transfer market.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Nottingham Forest has submitted an official €17.5 million bid to Feyenoord for right-back Givairo Read. The offer has been rejected, but Forest are expected to return to the table with an improved proposal.
What makes this move particularly interesting for Liverpool fans is a remark Read made back in 2025, when asked to choose between Manchester United and Manchester City as his favourite Premier League club. The teenage Dutchman didn’t hesitate answering simply: “Liverpool, for sure! Nothing else, no one else.”
At just 20 years old, Read is already one of Dutch football’s most exciting young defenders.
The right-back enjoyed a strong 2025-26 campaign with Feyenoord despite battling physical issues, making 20 appearances across all competitions, contributing 2 goals and 3 assists.
An attack-minded, two-footed full-back who has already tasted European football as a teenager, Read fits a modern profile that fits clubs like Liverpool. Whether the Reds firm up any interest before Forest can seal a deal remains to be seen.
