Liverpool legend Jurgen Klopp appears all set for a return to management with the German national team.

The 59-year-old has already signalled that he is ready to take on the job, and there is increasing optimism that a deal will be struck.

Klopp is currently working as a pundit for Magenta TV at the World but is set to pause those duties in order to hold in-person talks with DFB officials.

Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg has reported that Klopp will sign a contract until 2030 – meaning he oversees the 2028 European Championship at the 2030 World Cup:

“Jürgen Klopp is set to receive a contract with the DFB until 2030, including the 2030 FIFA World Cup in Morocco, Portugal, Spain and Uruguay,” Plettenberg reported.

“Final negotiations are scheduled on Friday/Saturday in New York. Klopp’s exit from Red Bull is not an issue and will be finalised once the full agreement between Klopp and the DFB has been completed.”

Klopp’s contract terms with the DFB are understood to be highly attractive, with his salary set to come in just above Julian Nagelsmann’s reported €7 million per year package according to BILD. His trusted lieutenants Peter Krawietz and Pepijn Lijnders are expected to join him once again.

Meanwhile, the DFB will not be required to pay a compensation fee to release Klopp from his contract.

Instead, he will continue his association with the company as a brand ambassador, a role Red Bull reportedly values more than a one-off payout.
