A report claims Everton are in pole position to sign Bayer Leverkusen striker Christian Kofane with the player's agent photographed at Finch Farm
Everton have been linked with a potential move for Bayer Leverkusen striker Christian Kofane with his agent reportedly spotted at Finch Farm.
So if there is anything in this latest summer transfer rumour, what could Kofane potentially bring to the Blues?
Let's address the speculation first.
According to Africafoot, Everton have submitted a concrete offer for the Cameroon international, who they state is also being monitored by Arsenal, Barcelona and Newcastle United. Meanwhile, the Daily Arsenal's reporter David Schill claims the Blues are in pole position to sign the Gunners target, adding that his agent, Eric Depolo, told him that David Moyes "loves" Kofane and that talks on Wednesday were "fantastic."
Born in Douala, Cameroon’s largest city, on July 26, 2006, the 19-year-old has enjoyed a rapid rise. Moving to France with his parents, he holds dual Cameroonian-French citizenship but started his career in Spain with Albacete, netting eight goals in 20 Segunda Division games for them in his debut 2024/25 campaign.
Impressed by his potential, Leverkusen met his buyout clause that all Spanish-based players have (€5million) and he struck seven times in 44 matches last season. He has also already been capped six times by Cameroon and hit two goals for his country.
So, what kind of player is this prospect who has supposedly drawn so much affection from the Everton boss?
Given that Beto finished last season as Moyes' firs- choice striker, we shall compare Kofane with the Guinea-Bissau international.
Comparisonator’s player profile gives Kofane a 5.9 out of 10 score as a box striker, a forward primarily focused on finishing inside the box, defined by high shot volume, strong positioning and elite goal conversion. He scores 3.5 as a false nine, 3.3 as a target man, 3 as a mobile striker and 2.9 as a pressing forward.
In contrast, Beto scores 4.1 as a target man, 3.8 as a pressing forward, 3.5 as a box striker, 2.4 as a mobile striker and 2.2 as a false nine. We can also use Comparisonator’s Me2Others tool to correlate Kofane’s statistics from the Bundesliga last season against Beto’s from the Premier League.
When it comes to Artificial Intelligence points, it’s something of a mixed bag between the pair of them. For overall performance, based on league weights, positional difficulties and team quality applied across 378 parameters, Kofane scores 172 and Beto 131.
Kofane is also ahead in the offensive (117 to 81.02); passing (24.41 to 9.27) and physical performance (251 to 220) categories. However, Beto leads for defensive contributions (11.96 to 5.9) and duels (23.52 to 14.08).
Here is a breakdown of their various attributes...
Physical
Kofane dominates this section. Per 90 minutes, his total distance covered is greater (5.497km to 4.898km); does more sprints (14 to 11.74) and has a higher top speed, although this is negligible (35.31km/h to 35.23km/h).
Offensive
The figures are mixed here. The pair have an identical expected goals (xG) figure of 0.25.
Kofane gets more shots (1.57 to 0.89) and more shots on target (0.9 to 0.43). Beto has more successful dribbles (0.24 to 0.1) and a higher rate of playing in scoring attacks, but again this is by a small margin (0.3 to 0.29).

Defensive
Strikers still have to work hard off the ball, especially in a Moyes team. This shows as Beto dominates this section with more ball recoveries (1.38 to 1.1); interceptions (1.35 to 0.81) and clearances (0.78 to 0.57).
Passing
Even at his young age, Kofane’s distribution looks slicker. He makes more passes (6.86 to 4.62) and successful passes (5.76 to 3.41) while he is also well ahead for successful link-up plays (0.81 to 0.43).
Duels
Beto dominates his younger rival here. He competes in more (15.11 to 9.71) and wins more (4.3 to 2.9) although curiously the pair of them both enjoy an identical 26% success rate.
Overall, there is a lot of promise with Kofane but Everton face some big decisions over their strikers for next season.
Beto has entered the final year of his contract while as we have seen with Thierno Barry, coming into the Premier League is always a challenging step, even if you’re coming from one of Europe’s other major leagues, in his case Spain with Villarreal, and the Blues need personnel who can hit the ground running when it comes to such adaptations.
