Former Liverpool striker Danny Ings is set to sign for Leicester in League One, almost eight years after he left the Reds to sign for Southampton in a deal worth up to $25 million (£20 million).
Ings is now 33 years old and was most recently at Sheffield United. But according to The Telegraph, he is set to sign a contract with Leicester, who were relegated to the third tier of the English game last season after a difficult period.
Jurgen Klopp was a big fan of Ings during his time at Anfield, but the player struggled with injuries and was unable to show his best form consistently. He has played for four clubs in total since departing.
His best form after leaving Liverpool came in 2020 when Klopp spoke glowingly about him before a game against Liverpool with Ralph Hassenhuttl's Southampton.
"Today at Anfield we must be ready for a team that doesn’t care about what position in the table either of us currently has," Klopp wrote in the matchday program at the time.
"They have international quality throughout and they play to their maximum. This makes them a dangerous opponent.

"And of course there is one player in their ranks we know better than most: Mr Danny Ings.
"For 90-plus minutes today he is our opponent, but other than that he is always our friend at Liverpool.
"I am not even half-a-percent surprised to see what he does this season. Richly deserved, also. I would never dream of telling Gareth Southgate what he should be considering.
"But given he is a top operator and clever coach, I’m sure he’s aware that Danny is someone who could help his country again in the near future.

"Today I hope he has an off day, but other than that his story this season really brings joy to those of us lucky enough to know him."
Liverpool.com says: Ings was a very good player on his day, and someone with relentless energy. He was very unlucky with injuries, but he has had a solid career.
As for Leicester, the decline has been remarkable. Going down to League One, it is a long way back only a decade on from winning the Premier League title.
