U18 players Gabriel Arteta and Maalik Hashi have been involved in training with the Arsenal U21 squad this week.

Arteta, the son of Arsenal manager Mikel, was registered as a scholar towards the end of last season and made four appearances at U18 level. He usually plays as a right winger.

Now a second year scholar, Arteta has been allocated the number 70 shirt for this season.

Midfielder Hashi first featured for the U21s as as a schoolboy and made further appearances at that level last season. He signed his first professional contract with the club last campaign.

Arsenal U21s start their pre-season preparations with a friendly against Boreham Wood next Friday and it is possible that some U18 players could feature, although it remains to be seen which ones will be called upon.

The likes of Patrick Stachow, Abraham Owusu-Gyasi and Teshaun Murisa have been training with the U21 squad along with goalkeepers Jack Talbot and Remi Lupinski. Marli Salmon is technically an U18 player in terms of age but is well established as a key figure in the U21 team.
