Everton could benefit from another move that has little to do with them this summer.

The club has already made millions from the sale of former Blue Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United to Barcelona.

Another ex-attacker, Youssef Chermiti, could be the next player to earn his old club a windfall should any of the clubs reported to be interested in him make their move.

Chermiti joined Rangers last summer in an initial £8m deal that included £2m in further add-ons. His departure followed a tough two years on Merseyside in which he struggled for chances in his first season before his second was ruined by injuries.

His first campaign in Scotland was largely a success, with the 22-year-old bagging 15 goals in the Scottish Premiership. That tally included two braces against arch-rivals Celtic.

His form has sparked interest this summer. Last month, Dutch side PSV Eindhoven were said to be tracking the Portugal Under-21s international, while now it is Lyon of French Ligue 1 that are reportedly considering a move.

The Daily Record has said Rangers will only budge over the player if they get an offer they cannot refuse. If they do, then Everton will also benefit as the Blues included a sell-on clause in the deal they negotiated last summer.

The club has already benefitted from one such clause, with Everton gaining 15% of the profit made by Newcastle in the £69m sale of Gordon to Barcelona - around £3.6m.
