Former Liverpool striker Emile Heskey has called on the Reds to move ahead of Arsenal in the race to sign Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola, describing the France international as the type of marquee arrival that could make a major impact under new manager Andoni Iraola.
Barcola has become one of the most highly rated attacking players in European football since joining PSG from Lyon in 2023. The 23-year-old has developed into a key figure at the Parc des Princes, combining explosive pace, close control and creativity from wide areas.
His performances have reportedly attracted interest from several Premier League clubs, with Liverpool and ARSENAL among those monitoring his situation.
According to recent reports, LIVERPOOL are considering a move for Barcola as they look to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new campaign. Heskey believes the winger would represent a significant statement of intent and could provide Iraola with a dynamic forward capable of making an immediate contribution.
The former England international highlighted Barcola’s ability to influence matches and suggested that securing his signature would underline Liverpool’s ambitions following the appointment of Iraola.
The Spanish coach has earned widespread praise for his attacking philosophy and tactical approach, with the club expected to back him in the transfer market: ‘Signing Bradley Barcola would be an amazing coup for Liverpool because he provides the pace and directness we’ve been missing on the left wing,’ he told Boyle Sports.
‘We’ve been spoiled with Sadio Mané and Luis Díaz, and now we need Barcola to get the fans off their seats again.
‘Liverpool looked to have missed out on Yan Diomande to PSG, but that could open the door to Barcola leaving, it would be a statement signing for Andoni Iraola that’s for sure.’
PSG are under no pressure to sell, with Barcola regarded as an important part of their long-term plans. The French champions invested heavily to sign him from Lyon and are likely to demand a significant fee should they entertain offers.
For LIVERPOOL, the potential arrival of Barcola would represent a major attacking upgrade and provide another option capable of playing on either flank. His ability to carry the ball at speed and create chances could complement the club’s existing forwards while giving Iraola more tactical flexibility.
