Nevertheless, the talk will not go away and there have even been claims that the Dutchman would consider the move as he reaches the end of his illustrious career. There has been speculation that owner Gerry Cardinale is tempted by the idea of landing such a big name.
Luca Bianchin – a journalist for La Gazzetta dello Sport – spoke to MilanVibes about the idea of the former Celtic man joining Milan.
“I’d summarise the situation in two points. The first is that Ibrahimovic has always considered the Dutch defender ideal for strengthening Milan’s defence,” he began (via MilanNews).
“The second is that the dossier has actually arrived on Cardinale’s desk, and we’ll have to figure it out. This doesn’t mean Van Dijk will join the Rossoneri, but it’s an idea Ibra has reiterated several times. It certainly is and has been a thought.
“There are various issues to address, from his contract to his salary and more. At the moment, there have been no contacts with his entourage or Liverpool themselves.”
