Arsenal are closing in on Club Brugge star Christos Tzolis as a replacement for title-winning hero Leandro Trossard.

The Gunners said an emotional farewell to Trossard last week as he joined Besiktas in a £17million deal but now Arsenal transfer chief Andrea Berta is on the hunt for new blood.

According to SunSport the Gunners are close to an agreement to sign former Norwich City man Tzolis in a £35m deal who is a self-declared Arsenal fan.

He said earlier this year: "I hope that Arsenal come for me. If Arsenal come, it would be a privilege for any player to play for them."

The Gunners are busy in the window and are also in talks to sign Newcastle star Bruno Guimaraes, having had a £45million verbal offer knocked back by the Magpies last week.

It is expected that Arsenal will return with a fresh bid but it has not stopped them pushing for other deals with Tzolis high up the wish-list.

But Mikel Arteta is keen on the Greek international left winger who could bring a different dimension to his team next season as the Gunners attempt to defend their title.

It is though that this move will not impact Arsenal's hunt for Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers with the England star also on Arteta's wish-list.

Villa have slapped a whoppinhg £130m price tag on the England man who is currently at the World Cup finals with the Three Lions and will be on contention for the quarter-finals against Norway this weekend.

If Tzolis does join Arsenal at this fee it would be a record price for a Greek international, overtaking Brighton player Babis Kostoulas.

The star grabbed 22 goals and 29 assists in 52 appearances last season and was on the radar of many top scouts. He has 43 goals and 45 assists in 108 appearances since joining Brugge in 2024.

The Greek star also has nine goals in 35 appearances for his country at international level and would be deemed a player ready to challenge in the Premier League.

Tzolis can operate on either wing and as a centre-forward with the 24-year-old contracted until 2029 giving Club Brugge some protection on his fee.

He left Norwich City in 2024 to join Fortuna Dusseldorf before making the switch to Belgium.

Speaking on the Carrow Road experience, he said: “I didn’t give much importance to the amount of my transfer at that time. I just wanted to play, get minutes and enjoy the game. That didn’t happen at Norwich.

“After seven games, Daniel Farke, the coach who supported me, was fired. Dean Smith, when he came in, had a completely different structure in mind.

“That was a choice that I had to respect, but it was the most difficult year of my career."
